Is Squidoo Worth It Anymore?

If you have spent even a few months in the internet marketing world, you have heard of Squidoo.  It is a place where anyone can go and write about a topic that interests them.  It is an easy platform to write and sell.  And it is free. 

Well, Squidoo recently went through some major changes.  Smart changes? That is up for debate and I am still on the side of no.  But it remains to be seen.

They locked lenses, gave warnings and made it nearly impossible to fix the lenses.  And even lenses that didn't get flagged or locked were locked when you tried to edit them.  It was a mess.  While this craziness was happening, the people running Squidoo were in hiding.  They were not answering concerns on their own forums.  They were not one bit helpful.  Very unprofessional.  They would just post once in a while about how Google was telling them this or that.  Ummm. No Google is not even going to tell Squidoo what their ranking algorithm is! They were guessing like the rest of us. 

It seems that they guessed wrong, at least for a while.  My lenses dropped in ranking.  They flagged a lot of my money-making lenses and it was just a complete disaster.  My earning dipped very low.  And thus, I am sure theirs did, too.

Now, however, they are telling you what exactly to fix to get published.  It seems they have cut back on the strictness of publishing a lens.  Maybe they missed the money? Maybe they realized they had gotten some really bad advice and Google didn't love them so much anymore? Who knows what happened. 

Now, I would say, yes....go publish a lens.  But do so with caution.  They have shown very little concern for the very people that make them money.  They are putting stuff on the front pages that is so off-beat and not what a lot of people are interested in.  But they are doing much better at remembering what makes them money and who makes them money.

This website is still in beta. And I am not thrilled to wait for the Amazon earnings to be changed from a "pool" to each person getting what they earned. But, I am hopeful that this will all iron itself out. I think the positives far outweigh the negatives.Give it a try. 

It is a site like Squidoo that is working great for me so far.  I hope it will do the same for you.

**Right now it is helping my rank on my sites from it's backlinks and is ranking well on it's own, too!  We will see how it plays out. So far, so good!

***UPDATE:*** This site is not seeing the love from G it once did.  It has dropped drastically.  I am not as excited about it at this time.  But, if you like to diversify where you links are coming from (which you should), this could be a good site to use from time to time using a term you don't care to rank on.  Squidoo is ROCKIN' right now as far as rank.

Are You Still Struggling Online?

Are you still struggling to make money online?  Are you still asking the question, "will I make money online....ever?".  Well, you are not alone. 

Where you ARE alone is in the fact that you are still trying.  Most people stop trying way to early and never see a dime.  I have read this over and over and I have seen it myself.  I have helped 5 people with making money online.  I have made videos for them, I have given them information  that took me over a year to figure out.  Guess how many lasted more than 1 month? EXACTLY ONE. 

When I showed family members what to do...I showed them the right way to do it.  At least as I understand it.  No black hat.  No gaming the system.  Just the way to plug along and eventually make honest money.  All but one wanted quick money and quit.  So, what am I rambling on and on about?  I just want you to keep going! Even if you put in one hour a week.  Keep going. Don't stop.  It may take 3 or 4 months....but you will see progress and money. 

Concentrate on good content.  Submit articles with good and useful information to reputable article sites.  Keep going.  Use great web 2.0 sites to make money and create backlinks.  I like Squidoo and my new absolute favorite is this one.  Google seems to like it and I love it, too.  Just don't be spammy.  Offer something readers can use.  Yes, you can sell things.  But sell things you would buy yourself and say why.  Just keep going!

Don't Be an Internet Scatterbrain!

Do you feel like you are trying to make money online and getting nowhere? That is how I felt just a few short months ago. I did some work on this affiliate product and then that one. I then started to wonder, where is the real money?

Well, I continue to learn more and more about this stuff and I realize it is best to get one product or blog post to the top at a time.

Now, when I post on a blog with long-tailed keywords I really want to target, I give it some backlinks right away. If I decide later that ranking would be worthwhile for that keyword, I get it to the top 3. I do as much work as is needed. If it is something that really pays well, I will work to get it to number one.

You can succeed. Just don't be an affiliate scatterbrain like me!

Most People Quit Internet Marketing Too Soon

Many people dabble in internet marketing. However, when they don't make thousands and thousands of dollars right off the bat, they quit before they enjoy any real results.

Internet marketing does take time. You need to put in the work over time. Keep in mind that whatever you build up will serve you well into the future.
