My first attempt at making money off a website was to take on a huge project. The website is www.HowToGrowAnything.com. I am a beginning gardener and am interested in the subject. Not to mention, I want to learn a lot about gardening because my father (who passed away a few years ago) was an avid gardener. All of the articles are written by me. Nothing fancy, I don't know enough yet to be fancy. Just the facts. I added Adsense and watched almost no money roll in. I knew nothing really of keywords, longtail keywords,etc. I need to put more work into that site as it is a site that I had good intentions for. But....on with the story. Are you still awake?
Now I know that project was too big for such a beginner. But I do love the premise. Basic info for beginning gardeners from someone who is learning along with them in an honest, hands dirty way.
I then did some keyword research in the best way I knew how at the time from just reading all that I could on the internet. It is a basic site and I am trying to sell some Commission Junction and AOL products on it. That hasn't worked out for me yet. I am tweaking it now that I am learning more. And I will target most of my future sites to products from Clickbank. Clickbank makes you more money! Or, it should if I were making any. We will see how things go.
